Measuring Inseam

Inseam is the most important metric to consider when deciding on bike size. In order to take this measurement properly, follow these guidelines:

  1. Stand upright with your feet 6-8" apart.
  2. Using a tape measure or tailor tape, measure from the bottom of your foot to the top of the inside of your leg.
  3. Compare your inseam measurement to the standover height of the bike. You should have about an inch of space between your body and the top tube.

Nice bike

I like the bike a lot. I took it to a shop to check the brakes as they were rubbing. He said the front disc was warped but it would wear itself straight.

Great quality for the price

Very tough but lightweight. Can easily handle light off road trails and is also a comfortable ride for long treks on pavement as well.

Great Entry Bike

I have been riding this bike for a little over two weeks every day around 15 miles a day here are my thoughts. To start the bike was pretty easy to set up. Shipping was overnight which was nice, especially since the bike cost little under $500. When I received it there was some cosmetic wear on the crank that rubbed together because the shipping foam fell off, not a big deal to me but could be to others. I will come out and say that I am mechanically inclined and have done maintenance on previous bikes before, so I did not find it hard to put together. If you have never held a wrench in your life or don't have a basic mechanical sense I would suggest eating the $70 bucks or so and get a shop to build it. Once assembled I went on a shakedown ride an immediately threw the chain in high gear and needed to adjust the breaks and rear derailleur. I came home and adjusted the drive train as well as the brake pad contact on the rotors and the brake levers. After one week of riding the brake contact needed adjusting again (this could have been my user error). The pedal reflectors had started to come off and needed to be pushed back in and I applied a little super glue to keep them in. The brakes were screeching like a pig so I made sure that they were cleaned with some brake clean but alas they're just super noisy. After two weeks using the bike the inevitable happened and I laid the bike down after turning too hard in a puddle, rookie mistake on my part. The bike held up fine and nothing broke after being tossed down on concrete at about 15 mph. I am pleased with the bike and find it very comfortable to ride. Let me share the negatives and positive of this bike. Positives: • Great feeling to the bike, it feels sturdy and is comfortable on long distances. • Shimano trigger fire shifters, a great feature for an entry-level bike like this, shifts are smooth, and the gearing is perfect as long as you aren’t doing any crazy mountain biking rides. • Disc brakes make the stopping power incredible and reliable; you could stop on a dime if you wanted to. • 700cc tires and rims allow for customizability you could easily switch to a narrower or wider tire depending on your ride style. • Looks, the bike looks aggressive yet subtle at the same time, it is just a good-looking bike. • Tons of braze-ons for accessories Negatives: • Assembly, the assembly was a little sloppy out of the box, everything needed to be tightened and nothing was super optimal just kind of assembled and thrown in a box. • Cheap resin pedals, they had to cut costs somewhere, while it is sad that Retrospect has outsourced to China for bikes and only designed in California some part quality was cut. The pedals feel okay for now, but I have my bets on them being the first thing to fail on the bike. • For $500 I would have liked to have the cable and brake lines run through the frame instead of on the outside. • I would have also liked to see a better crankset with double or triple to really take advantage of those gears. • Brakes, super squeaky out of the box but they get the job done so I can’t complain too much. All together this bike is at the upper end of budget hybrid/gravel bikes. Is it a great gravel bike? No. Is it a speed dedicated urban road bike? No. Can it do both of those adequately well? Yes. This bike is for the person that wants some adventure to the bike rides, you can ride on a gravel path, you can climb that dirt hill, and you can comfortably ride along your local bike path. While I do wish there were some higher quality parts on the bike for the price, the versatility of the bike is it’s the biggest advantage. This bike can do many things just fine, the bike is meant to do many things well not just one thing great. If that sounds like what you want then I would highly recommend the bike.

Great bike !

Just received my Amok V3 four days ago. Was not disappointed. Love my Mantra V2 and I like this Amok equally. After careful assembly and inspection I went for my shake down ride. After a small adjustment hither and yither I had it tuned in. Returned back home after a 13 mile ride very impressed once again with a Retrospec product. Youins nailed it again. Love the disc brakes. They stop on a dime. Effortless gear changes. Great riding position for me. Plus the bike just plain looks tuff. Thanks for an awesome bicycle. Retrospec, keep it up and I will keep buying. Kudos from South Carolina.
