The Inflatable Stand Up Paddle Board Made for Life on Water: Weekender 2
Spring has finally sprung, and water adventures are drifting into view, which means it’s the perfect time to upgrade your paddle board (or hop on your first) – and we’ve got just what you need. We are excited to announce the arrival of our newly updated, Weekender 2 inflatable paddle board. The popularity of SUPs continues to grow, and if you haven’t had a chance to try it yet, get ready! We spent the fall and winter making big changes to this best seller and are stoked to tell you all about it.
Reconnecting With Our Roots
Born under the southern California sun, Weekender 2 draws inspiration from Retrospec’s SoCal longboard lineage. We wanted to build on the performance and accessibility of the first model, improving features like stability and maneuverability while giving even beginner riders room to grow. Spending time in nature has such significant benefits, and for many of us, water is a nearby and untapped resource. Our goal with this board was to make it the perfect stand up paddle board for any adventure and any skill level to help you maximize the time you spend outside!
Updated Design: An Overview
New Dimensions
Based on feedback from our community, improving stability was a primary focus for Weekender 2. First, we increased the board’s width from 30 inches to 32 inches. A wider board body provides a more spacious deck and boosts the board’s overall volume, making it much easier to balance. In addition, we increased the length from 10 feet to 10 and a half feet. This lengthened waterline also adds to the overall volume while making the board a little faster than the original.
New Shape
Weekender 2 boasts a classic all-around shape. Unlike a displacement hull which is designed to cut through the water, this ISUP has a planing hull and rounded nose which will provide more stability and responsiveness while staying on top of the water – important features for entry level to intermediate paddlers who are working on board control. To enhance tracking and glide, we squared off the tail of the board. Once you find your sea legs, you’ll discover the performance built into the slightly tapered tail, and can test out party tricks such as step backs and pivot turns.
New Features
The updated features for Weekender 2 have been designed with optimal rider comfort and performance in mind. There’s plenty of space for you and even a furry friend on the super-comfy brushed EVA deck pad. An extended 6 point front bungee system increases storage space and can hold all of your belongings for a day on the water – don’t forget to stay properly hydrated. The center grab handle makes for easy transport to and from the water, and the rear D-ring will keep you connected with our 10 foot coil leash. 3 detachable fins help the board maintain stability and tracking, and the adjustable 3-piece paddle accommodates a wide range of rider heights. All of this, plus a dual action pump, waterproof phone case, and repair kit conveniently pack up into our freshly updated rucksack, ready to travel with you anywhere!
New Construction
Weighing in at only 17.5 lbs, this board is extremely lightweight while maintaining rigidity and durability. Working with the latest upgrades to iSUP construction, our AerGlide-Lite technology utilizes tens of thousands of polyester fibers that make up the interior of the board – the drop stitch core. Connecting the top and bottom halves, these fibers are what make the board rigid. Becoming highly taut under pressure, the drop stitch core is protected by airtight, super durable skin. While the recommended pressure for Weekender 2 is 12 PSI, it can comfortably withstand up to 15 PSI. For those who want to save their energy for the water, inflating the board can be even easier and you can dial in the exact PSI by using an electric pump. To further increase sturdiness, the rails are overlaid with not one, but two layers of 1000 denier PVC fabric.
Fun For the Whole Family
Our new Weekender 2 paddle board is the perfect complement to any group outing. It has a weight capacity of up to 300 lbs, the deck pad is spacious enough to accommodate a tag-along small rider, and it has plenty of attachment points to easily raft up to an inflatable Dock. Always remember to put safety first – wear a certified life jacket and bring hats, sunglasses, and plenty of sunscreen. Whether you are paddling with friends, introducing young seafarers to the joys of the on-water lifestyle, or simply lounging in the sun, Weekender 2 will ensure a great day on the water.
Adventure Awaits
Now that you’ve gotten to know our new Weekender 2 iSUP, we can’t wait to see where this board will take you! Suitable for beginners, intermediate, and even experienced riders, this paddle board is a true all-arounder for flatwater lakes, bays, rivers, and can even handle some gentle ankle biters. So whether you are looking for adventure, a new cardio routine, or some fun in the sun, Retrospec’s Weekender 2 inflatable stand up paddle board can do it all!
