Harper is sleek, stylish, smooth, and low-maintenance. A hand-built steel frame and flip-flop hub allow you to ride fixed-gear or free, making Harper the perfect whip to work, class, or brunch.

Our take on single-speed/fixed riding is your new go-to for commuting, coasting, and cruising far beyond point A to point B. With a quick flip of the back wheel, Harper turns from a single-speed cruise to a fixed-gear ride. Harper’s hand-built high-tensile strength steel diamond frame is designed for longevity. Ride comfortably with riser handlebars for improved posture. Powerful front and rear hand brakes come standard on our Harper and provide exceptionally controlled stops. Machined braking surfaces engineered onto the rims make for safer, faster, and more efficient stopping.

FLIP-FLOP HUB

Harper is your two-for-one sidekick. With a quick flip of the back wheel, Harper turns from a single-speed cruise to a fixed-gear ride. Riding fixed has its advantages (including a guaranteed workout) but it’s not necessary to ride that way if you don’t enjoy it. Switch it up again with a quick flip of the rear wheel. Fixed-gear bikes famously have fewer moving parts so you can keep moving.

COMPONENTRY

We're not interested in anything but the best. Harper sports top-of-the-line components for smooth sailing and effortless riding. VP freestyle pedals, KMC ⅛” chain, 25.4mm riser handlebars, front and rear Promax brakes, help you maintain total control of your ride. 30mm Deep V rims and thick, stable tires ensure a smooth ride, gripping to city streets regardless of conditions.

Measuring Inseam

Inseam is the most important metric to consider when deciding on bike size. In order to take this measurement properly, follow these guidelines:

  1. Stand upright with your feet 6-8" apart.
  2. Using a tape measure or tailor tape, measure from the bottom of your foot to the top of the inside of your leg.
  3. Compare your inseam measurement to the standover height of the bike. You should have about an inch of space between your body and the top tube.

Exceeds expectations

This is my second bike purchase from Retrospect. The first one was the beach cruiser. I picked up a single speed Harper for my son in high school. The area we live in has limited hills and I was sick and tired of replacing rear derailleurs that would get bent from the bike being laid down in the garage. What you notice right away with these single speeds is how much more efficiently it transfers your leg power to the drivetrain. You really are connected to the bike in a way that bikes with long gears and heavy clogs cannot match. I have a different single speed that is a more expensive brand, but I have to say the Harper offers a more smooth ride. The geometry is comfortable and the components are smooth. The tires are thin enough to be fast but have enough air to offer cushion on the cement streets. Braking is sufficient for sudden suburban stops. My 9th grader who is 5’ 10” fits the large very nicely with room to grow. The graphite and orange color are not only attractive but also distinctive from the sea of black 21-speed mountain bikes that all of his friends have. The stock seat is adequately padded; Thought you might want to consider an upgrade here and to the grips.

Just Looks Cool

As soon as I received the email that the bike was in stock; I stopped what I was doing and immediately placed my order. I received confirmation soon thereafter and then a tracking number. The process from ordering to delivery was about 5 days. Pros: 1.Lightweight 2.Stylish 3.Easy to assemble 4.Lots of mounting options for accessories like: bottle holder, pump and rear rack. 5. Relatively stiff frame 6. Decent brakes 7. 3 piece crank Cons 1. Welds show some perosity (even through the paint) 2. Paint wasn’t perfect (came with a few little blemishes 3. Dropouts are a little anemic, but it is steel, so I guess that’s ok? 4. The tires are very, very skinny and thin 5. The riser handle bar concerns me- it’s steel and thin (sturdy, just have a feeling about it) Would I buy this bike again? YES A 100 TIMES YES. The price of the bike absolutely covers almost all of its shortcomings and my expectations. In short, I was pleasantly surprised with the overall quality and ride.

Great But Size Down

Overall, the bike came very quickly and looks great! The only thing is it's way too big. I am 5'3 and went with the size small (as recommended) and unfortunately, I can barely touch the ground. I highly recommend sizing down when ordering.

Great bike, you will need a PRESTA gauge

Great bike, easy asssembly. make sure all the bolts are ******* tightly with included multi use tool and hex drives. While bike is shipping order a presta gauge for inflating the tire using a gas station air pump.

Decent Bike for the Price...

Decent bike for the price, but cheap parts. Bike has some issues. Handle bars swivel around so angle of brakes move. Seat seems to be angled upward, making it fairly uncomfortable. It’s rideable and great price point, but would have preferred to level-up a bit to get a better riding experience.
