I purchased two of these bikes from Amazon—a 24-inch and a 20-inch. Like many reviews on Retrospec’s website mention, you can adjust the seat but not the handlebars. While I do wish the handlebars were adjustable, my kids haven’t been bothered by their height since we adjusted their seats.
Assembly was another common topic in reviews. For us, it wasn’t too difficult because my husband has prior experience and owns bike tools. However, for someone without experience, it could require extra costs to have a bike shop handle assembly and tuning. Both bikes arrived with the front brakes too tight, causing them to rub against the tires when not in use. This possible extra cost of needing to go to a bike shop took away a star. The price point is only as good as your ownership of bike tools and experience with bike assembly and tune up.
Customer service, though, was excellent. Our 24-inch bike arrived with flat tires, and Zak from customer service quickly responded to our email. He shipped replacement tubes within just two days—fantastic turnaround time!
Overall, these bikes are a great choice: solid quality, Shimano gears, hand brakes, sleek design, and a reasonable price point. Thanks to the quality and great customer service, we also bought the Cub 2 balance bike for our youngest, which has great reviews as well. We’re now considering their Beaumont City bike for myself. Retrospec’s customer service and honest reviews make them a brand we trust!
