If you're in the market for a new bike, don't overlook Retrospec. They not only sell excellent bikes, but they stand behind them 100%, and today that is very rare!
I ran into a problem with my bike when I took it out of the box, but a simple email and top notch customer care took care of everything.
I recommend Retrospec, 5 stars all the way!
Bike is exactly what I was looking for. Daughter will be enjoying this bike for a long time.
Smooth ride
Nice bike to purchase online and was able to put everything together except for the chain. It came off the front and back cassette and derailer. I had to bring it to bike shop to untangle it and get on properly.
It rides very nice and is a sturdy bike for the money.
You could spend twice as much on a cruiser bike and it still might not be as good overall as the Chatham is. With all the money you save, you can make some upgrades to the Chatham and still pay less total than for other "bike-shop quality" cruisers.
Example: A $500+ cruiser may come with fenders standard, but Amazon and eBay have tons of 26" cruiser fender sets for under $60. I added a $40 full-size fender set to my Chatham while assembling it. And that higher-priced cruiser in my example most likely doesn't have water bottle cage fittings and top rack fittings like the Chatham does. Retrospec has the right priorities here by including those fittings instead of fenders, because fenders can easily be retrofit by those who want them, but fittings are not something the end user can add.
I commute to work on an other-brand single-speed cruiser, which lacks top rack fittings, and it required two trips to the hardware store to get the modern rear rack installed, so I really appreciate the top rack fittings on the Chatham. I'm so happy with my Chatham, I just bought another one, which may replace that single-speed cruiser as my commuter.
One important thing to note is that the 7-speed Chatham has 26" x 1 3/8" rims, narrower than the 1.5" or 1.75" width rims found on some other derailleur-gear cruisers. This is not a problem, as the Chatham rims are thick double-wall aluminum, high grade, and weigh less than wider rims of that same quality. The Chatham's factory-spec 26" x…
