When powering your retrospec fat tire ebike using the push-to-go throttle, ebike foot pegs offer a comfortable, sturdy resting place for your feet while the electric battery does all the work!

Ebike foot peg placement will vary based on your ebike, but most ebike foot pegs (including ours) are attached behind the pedals, on the chainstay. On certain types of ebikes inspired by BMX or freestyle riding, pegs might be installed on the front axle (in front of the pedals) or on both the front and rear axles, primarily for the rider to use for tricks or alternative foot placement.

It’s important to understand that foot pegs are not an alternative to pedals on an ebike. Pedals are required to operate most ebikes in the United States. They are essential for propulsion, engaging the pedal-assist system (required for Class I, II, and III ebikes), getting exercise, maximizing battery range, and maintaining control over your bike. So, while ebike foot pegs are a great add-on, and offer a comfortable place to rest your feet, they don't replace the core function and benefits of using the pedals.

Yes, you can have both pegs and pedals on an ebike! Remember, you need pedals to power your ebike unless it is completely throttle-operated. Pedals attach to the crank arms, which are part of the drivetrain near the middle of the bike frame, and are essential for propulsion and engaging pedal assist. Our ebike foot pegs mount onto chainstay, at the rear of the bike. Since they attach to completely different parts of the e-bike, having both installed at the same time is totally fine! Our ebike foot pegs also fold up and out of the way when not in use, making it easy to have both pegs and pedals installed.

No, our ebike foot pegs cannot be attached to any ebike. The Rev Ebike Foot Pegs are compatible with two of our fat tire electric bike families, the Valen Rev+ and Valen Rev 2. Both of these bikes are available in traditional frame and step-through models.

Ebike laws vary based on city and state in the United States, but most laws stipulate that a bicycle or electric bicycle “shall not be used to carry more persons than the number for which it is designed and equipped.” This means that it is not legal to use foot pegs (or anything else) to carry an extra passenger on an ebike unless that ebike is specifically designed to carry passengers. All retrospec ebikes are designed for a single rider. Foot pegs are intended as a place to rest the rider’s feet when not pedaling, not to accommodate an extra person on the bike.

No you should not stand up on your ebike’s pegs. The pegs are built to rest your feet and cruise while riding, using the thumb-operated throttle to power the bike. We do not recommend standing or putting your full weight on the pegs.

Each of our Rev Ebike Foot Pegs are rated to accommodate 30 pounds, for a total weight of 60 pounds. (Remember, you should not stand up on your ebike’s foot pegs.)

Foot peg installation varies based on your ebike and manufacturers. Our foot pegs are installed with a single bolt and washer. Simply screw each peg into the provided slot on your Valen Rev+ or Valen Rev 2 electric fat tire bikes using the included bolt, lock washer, and screw.

No, installing or using foot pegs will not damage your ebike in any way. In fact, our Valen Rev+ and Valen Rev 2 ebikes are designed to be used with foot pegs, and come with bolt holes for foot peg installation. Just be sure not to exceed the recommended weight capacity of 30lbs per peg. Remember, ebike foot pegs are built to rest your feet, not to stand up or support an additional passenger.

Ebike foot pegs are usually made from steel or aluminum alloys. While steel is very strong, rust-resistant aluminum alloy is our favorite choice for ebike foot pegs, and it’s what we use for our Rev Foot Pegs. The primary advantage is aluminum's natural resistance to rust and corrosion. This ensures your foot pegs remain durable and look good over time. (Also, aluminum is significantly lighter than steel, which is always a benefit on a bicycle.) While steel provides high strength, aluminum pegs offer the best balance of weight, durability, weather resistance, and value.

For some riders yes, ebike foot pegs can allow you to place your feet in a more comfortable position and ease knee pain. But while ebike foot pegs may allow you to temporarily rest your legs and stop pedaling, they are unlikely to be a real solution for knee pain while cycling. Knee pain during or after riding often stems from issues like improper ebike fit (saddle height/position), incorrect pedaling technique, pushing too hard, or underlying medical conditions. Resting your feet on pegs does bypass the pedaling motion, but it does not address the root cause of the pain. So if you're experiencing knee pain, foot pegs should not be your targeted solution. First, investigate the underlying issue.
