The primary difference is in their design, capacity, and lids. Tumblers are slightly smaller in overall capacity, and have a narrow, cup holder-compatible base. They also use either wide-mouth sipping lids or traditional straws, which aren’t as easy to drink from on-the-go as the integrated straw lid that comes with our insulated water bottle.

Alder Water Bottle comes with an integrated sipping straw lid, allowing for easy sipping on the go, as well as a “handle lid” that lets you attach the bottle to a backpack or easily carry it on the go. Arroyo Tumbler comes with a straw lid (a longer, more traditional straw than the one found on the water bottle) and a sipping lid. These lids are also available for purchase separately in case you need a replacement.

To keep your stainless steel tumbler or bottle sparkling clean, a simple wash with warm, soapy water and a bottle brush will do the trick. For tougher stains or odors, try a vinegar soak or a baking soda paste. Just remember to rinse thoroughly afterwards!

Some stainless steel tumblers and water bottles are labeled as dishwasher-safe, but it varies by manufacturer. Our water bottles and tumblers should be hand-washed only. This will provide maximum longevity!

No. You should never microwave anything containing steel, copper, iron, or other hard metals, including stainless steel tumblers and water bottles! Metal reflects microwaves, which can cause sparks and damage your appliance. The insulation of your bottle will also prevent the liquid from heating effectively, and the metal exterior can get dangerously hot. Always transfer your drink to a microwave-safe container if you need to heat it in a microwave.

With proper care, a stainless steel tumbler or water bottle can last for many, many years! However, if you notice persistent odors or discoloration (even after cleaning), significant dents or scratches, a decrease in insulation performance, or any signs of rust, then it’s time to replace it.
