Once common, especially in the United Kingdom, butcher’s bikes are extremely rare in the 21st century. Today, there is no specific name for bikes with baskets, but beach cruiser bikes and city bikes are often seen with baskets attached to the handlebars.

It’s up to you! Ebike baskets can go on the front of your bike, ahead of the handlebars, or at the back, attached to your ebike rear rack, or both! This is crucial to prevent wobbling or detachment while riding. Avoid overloading your basket, too, as this will negatively impact your bike’s handling and balance, especially at higher speeds or during turns. When used with these precautions, ebike baskets offer a very safe, convenient way to carry belongings.

The best way to prevent your ebike basket from being stolen is to purchase a secure, bolt-on basket like ours. Flimsy, cheaper ebike baskets that attach via hooks, straps, or buckles can easily be lifted and stolen by thieves. Remember, most thieves are merely opportunists! When a basket is bolted onto the frame of a bike, it’s extremely unlikely that it will be stolen.

You can certainly attach a basket to a folding ebike, but not a traditional, fixed ebike basket like the ones in this collection. Instead, choose a removable, lightweight wire or wicker bike basket, which attaches via buckles or hooks, and can easily be taken on and off your bike when you need to fold it up for storage or transport.
