Can you put two people on a paddle board?

Of course! Multi-person paddle boards, also known as “party boards,” are stand up paddle boards that are specifically designed to accommodate two or more paddlers. They’re great for paddling, fishing, or simply hanging out, listening to music, and, well… partying!

Our largest party board, the 15-foot Weekender Crew XL, can hold up to five people and has a weight capacity of 1,050 pounds.

How many people can go on a paddle board?

Up to five! The largest paddle board at Retrospec is the Weekender Crew XL, which can accommodate four or five paddlers, and has a total weight capacity of 1,050 pounds. This massive paddle board is 15 feet long and nearly five feet wide and 8 inches thick, making it more than spacious enough for four or five adult paddlers.

What is a party paddle board?

A party paddle board is an inflatable paddle board designed for multiple people to use at the same time. Also known as “multi-person paddle boards” these boards are extra-long, extra-wide, and extra-thick.

Differences between a normal paddle board and a party paddle board?

Besides the larger size, there are a few other differences between a normal SUP and a party board. For one, our party paddle boards have five slide-in fins instead of three. This provides additional stability and tracking. Unlike most normal paddle boards, party boards also have storage bungee space both at the front and the rear. There are also more grab handles and D-rings on party boards, and some, like the Weekender Crew XL, are wide enough for two paddlers to stand (or sit) side by side.

What is the weight limit on a paddle board?

Paddle board weight limits will vary from board to board. The majority of our single-person adult paddle boards have a maximum weight capacity of 300 pounds. Party paddle boards—designed for multiple people—have a higher capacity. The 12-foot Weekender Crew can hold up to 500 pounds, and the 15-foot Weekender Crew XL can hold over 1,000 pounds!

How much does a party paddle board weigh?

Our smallest party paddle board, the Weekender Crew, weighs 36 pounds and can hold 500 pounds (2 to 3 paddlers). Its big brother, the Weekender Crew XL, weighs 54 pounds, but can hold over 1,000 pounds (4 to 5 paddlers).

How much does a party paddle board cost?

Expect to pay somewhere between $500 and $800 to purchase a quality inflatable multi-person paddle board. On our party boards, soft EVA decking covers a puncture-resistant AerGlide-Fusion body, meaning these boards are grippy, stable, and durable.

Do party paddle boards come with multiple paddles?

Yes! Our party paddle boards all come with a pair of three-piece adjustable paddles, which can be set at lengths ranging from 63 to 84 inches. If you need more than two paddles, you can purchase additional paddles on our website!

How long does it take to inflate or deflate a party paddle board?

It depends how fast you pump! Usually you can get a party paddle board inflated in under 20 minutes with our included dual-action hand-foot pump. If you want to inflate your board faster (or just don't want to break a sweat pumping) consider purchasing our iSUP electric pump! These are a great option particularly for party boards, because they’re so much larger than normal paddle boards.

Is it easy to maneuver a paddle board with multiple people?

Party paddle boards are wider, thicker, and longer than normal paddle boards, so they take a bit more effort to maneuver. When you have two or more people paddling, however, you'll find that these boards move around just as easily as a one-person paddle board!

Do multi-person paddle boards have D-rings for attaching accessories?

Yes! Our multi-person paddle boards have D-rings and grab handles along all sides, as well as an M6 threaded front mount to attach an action camera and record your paddling adventures. Many customers also use the integrated EasyLink Connection System to strap our Weekender AerComfort Kayak Seats to the deck of their paddle boards. These comfortable inflating seats will turn any board into a kayak!

Can plus-size people paddle board?

Of course! Anyone can paddle board as long as they’re able to maintain balance on the board, and are comfortable in the water in case they fall off. Our single-person adult paddle boards have a weight limit of around 300 pounds, but our multi-person boards can actually hold up to 1,050 pounds!

If you’re a plus-sized individual, consider purchasing a paddle board on the larger side, such as the 11’6” Weekender Tour board. If that doesn’t feel comfortable, you could also ride the 12-foot Weekender Crew board (500 lb limit) for increased stability.

Do paddle boards have seats?

Paddle boards do not come with seats, but our multi-person paddle boards feature an “EasyLink Connection System” that allows you to attach inflatable seats (sold separately). With these seats installed on the paddle board, you can sit down and paddle just like a canoe or kayak. This is a great way to get comfortable maneuvering a multi-person paddle board. Our largest party board, the Weekender Crew XL, is even wide enough for two paddlers to sit side by side!

How sturdy are inflatable paddle boards?

We can’t speak for bargain bin boards, but Retrospec inflatable paddle boards are extremely sturdy. These boards are made with a dual-layer, puncture-resistant proprietary design we call AerGlide-Fusion, which makes them virtually impervious to dings, scrapes, gashes, and tears. The wider and thicker a board, the sturdier it will be, as well. So if you’re looking for maximum stability and support on the water, a party paddle board will offer that!

What is the lifespan of an inflatable paddleboard?

The lifespan of every paddle board will differ. However, well-maintained double-layer models like the multi-person paddle boards you’ll find here at Retrospec can last anywhere from five to eight years—or even longer—if maintained and stored properly. Remember to wash your board off after each use and store it deflated in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, to maximize its lifespan.
